In 2007, there were 248,300 victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.1 (These figures do not include victims 12 years old or younger.)
Every 2 minutes, someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
Here’s the math. According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey — the country’s largest and most reliable crime study — there were 248,300 sexual assaults in 2007 (the most recent data available).
There are 525,600 minutes in a non-leap year. That makes 31,536,000 seconds/year. So, 31,536,000 divided by 248,300 comes out to 1 sexual assault every 127 seconds, or about 1 every 2 minutes.
We at Alive: Practical Fighting Concepts are committed wholeheartedly to seeing these statistics drop dramatically. According to Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network, 1 out of every 6 women is raped in their lifetime. Men are not excused as according to this same organization, 1 out of every 33 men are sexually assaulted in their lifetime. And so, as these dangers are unavoidable, the best way to preserve your life and dignity is to prepare yourself for the inevitable. In an effort to see these numbers drop, we’re offering a chance for women to equip themselves using the #1 women’s self-preservation program in the world.
We will be filming this event on site. DVD will be available to those who pre ordered in which you will receive it 4-6 weeks after the seminar. Pricing for this is $20 pre order, and $40 at the door.

Self Defense for Women – Myth vs. Reality

Is it possible for a 120lb woman to defend herself against a 200lb male? With a small list of qualifiers, the answer is yes. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as taking a self-defense class, buying a can of Pepper Spray, or carrying a handgun in your purse. Education is the key so let’s begin by examining some of the myths and hype surrounding women and their ability to protect or defend themselves from violence.
MYTH #1 The best form of defense for a women is a handgun.
According to FBI statistics, a woman is more likely to be killed by her own handgun than for her to use it in self-defense. Does this mean a woman shouldn’t own or carry a handgun for protection? Of course not but again, education is the key. A thorough familiarization course that emphasizes using a handgun for SELF-DEFENSE, not just target practice will help get you started. Periodic “shooting for self-defense” refresher training is a must. Buying a handgun and putting it in the nightstand until you need it three years later is a recipe for disaster. Proper training, regular practice, good safety habits, and the WILL TO USE IT when the situation warrants will ensure a woman doesn’t become a statistic.
MYTH #2 You can learn to defend yourself in one easy course.
Taking a self-defense course is just the first step in your journey to become free from fear. Do not expect a few hours of advice and application training to keep you safe from violence though. Most quality courses will include a combination of awareness development skills, non-lethal protection training (OC Spray, stun-gun, etc…), physical skills application and most important of all, mindset training. This will include adrenal stress training and scenario training to induce the adrenal response. If an individual is serious about self-defense, they will practice the skills taught in their course on a regular basis and take up a martial art or fitness class. Most important of all, the perception that violence will only happen to someone else must be erased from your mind. The adage “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst” has never had more meaning than when it comes to personal protection.
MYTH #3 Wearing provocative clothing will make you more apt to be a victim.
